Christian Louboutin has cited India as a major inspiration for his glamorous shoe designs.
The French footwear designer has built his eponymous label around his signature red-soled high heels, which are coveted by fashionistas such as Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez.
For his latest project, Louboutin has teamed with Indian haute couture designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee on an exclusive line, and explained that he feels strong ties to the South Asian nation.
"India has always been a fascinating and very interesting country," he said at an event promoting the Christian Louboutin x Sabyasachi collection, according to Footwear News. "In terms of inspiration, it's one of the countries that always comes to my mind."
While Louboutin is known for his signature pumps, such as the So Kate style with pointed toe and superfine stiletto heel, the designer revelled in experimenting with glitzy fabrics and embellishment on his latest partnership. The Christian Louboutin x Sabyasachi features embroidered booties, loafers with brocade details and studded peep-toe platforms, all with rich fabric details, sequins and ribbons.
"There is a common thread between India and the Emirates on how the bright sun light reflects on the work that has gold and embroidery details and textures that are not flat," Louboutin added.
The exclusive collection is only available at eight locations, including Harrods in London, Bergdorf Goodman in New York and the brand's boutique in Los Angeles.
But the Sabyasachi line isn't Louboutin's only new collaboration, with the 54-year-old also recently unveiling his first-ever line of shoes for tiny tots in collaboration with his friend Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop lifestyle brand. Louboutin's first baby shoe has been dubbed as the "Loubibaby" and is a Mary Jane design, featuring a bow on the front and a red sole. At present, the shoe is available in pink and blue satin, and shiny gold, and will be priced at $250 (£185).
